reminders- I WAS THERE

pdfX12は毎月一人の写真家のストーリーをpdfで配信しています。年間で12人のポートフォリオをご紹介するので精一杯ですが、かねてからあたためていたオンライン上で毎週更新していけるプロジェクトもはじめたいと思い、あらたにこのブログスペースreminders I was thereを開設しました。写真家がみずから選んだ一枚の写真と、それにまつわるストーリーを随時更新していくというものです。

リマインダーズプロジェクト運営人兼pdfX12刊行人の後藤由美と、これまでpdfX12に寄稿してくれた日本人写真家の岡原功祐さんと後藤勝さんを編集委員として迎え、それぞれがこのreminders-I WAS THEREに招待した写真家たちから届いた一枚の写真とそれにまつわるストーリーを毎週更新していきます。

なぜこの写真なのか、その一枚を収めるまでにどのようなドラマがあり、思いがあったのか。被写体と交わした会話や、このストーリーこそ知って欲しいというような、写真家にとってはかけがえのない一枚とストーリーを紹介していける場をつくりたいと思っています。この場を通して「伝える且つ魅せる写真」、「ヒューマニティ」「なぜ写真家が必要とされるのか」を読者の方々に語らずとも感じて頂けたら幸甚です。

About reminders - I WAS THERE:

"reminders - I WAS THERE" is a new weekly photography blog created by Yumi Goto along with two Japanese pdfX12 contributing photographers, Masaru Goto and Kosuke Okahara, which was recently launched for both English and Japanese speakers.

Our aim in doing this blog is to present the photographer's "behind the lens" experience, to share their relationship with subjects and events they have encountered in their work. We do not wish to show the photographer's "masterpiece" but rather, to present a photograph that the photographer has a personal connection with - that may remind them of a moment that affected them greatly or which may just simply be a story they would like to share.

We believe that in presenting this work we will help all of our viewers gain a greater understanding of the connection between a great photo and the photographer's humanity.
